The Australian Folk Music Awards (AFMAs) return to Melbourne on Wednesday 21 October 2026, bringing together artists, industry and audiences for a celebration of Australian folk music at the Brunswick Ballroom.

Now in their sixth year, the AFMAs recognise outstanding artists, albums and projects from across the country, spanning contemporary and traditional folk, solo artists, duos and groups, youth artists, instrumentalists, community and cultural projects, and the Zulya Kamalova Award.

This year’s finalists have now been announced, with an outstanding field of artists from across Australia.

The Awards Night will feature live performances, the presentation of the 2026 awards and the announcement of the People’s Choice, Lifetime Achievement and Contribution to Folk Award recipients
