The Folk Alliance Australia mailing lists are what are known as list-server mailing lists. Currently these lists run through Cpanel.
These are automated lists which allow (and encourage) the exchange of ideas amongst the subscribers.
The posting rules are as follows: Text only, no attachments, 60Kb is max. size of posting, post to list address only (do not include cc's: or bc's:
PLEASE REMEMBER THESE WISE WORDS ::
WHEN YOU SEND A MESSAGE TO any of the lists,
MAKE SURE IT"S ONLY SENT TO THAT ONE ADDRESS – ONLY!
(not from another mailing list, not in the cc: line, not in the bcc: line)
These are text based lists and limited to 60Kb message size. Continued posting outside these parameters will result in auto-suspension. In that case you will have to let Jim know so you can be reinstated. In some cases if you keep replying to the list rather then replying to the sender, this causes the size of the email to increase. When replying to a request for information it is best practice to reply to the sender – not the list. We must protect our server and the allowance of the message size is the only way we can do that. PLEASE …………….. thanks
Folkaus – FolkAus is a deliberately small mailing list that links people in Australia who have a direct involvement/interest in worldwide and folk music. It includes people who are performer musicians, distributors, producers, recording labels, reviewers, promoters, vendor operators, event organizers, etc. In enables these people to 'talk' with a small group of like-minded folk, to post notices, raise queries, initiate/continue/conclude discussions – to be part of a national community. Thus, not only do you receive emails that are posted to the list, but you can also respond and send emails to the list if you wish. To reply to the entire list you must post directly to the list this does not happen by the old method of "reply to the list".
(We thank Roger Holdsworth who first established the list courtesy of Melbourne University. The list was later taken on by Folk Alliance Australia. Jim MacQuarrie is acting as list administrator/moderator.)
FAA Folk Info List called: folk-@-folkalliance.org.au. Through this list you will receive our very informative monthly newsletter, information about conferences, awards and other FAA projects. This is for the use of our administrative and project staff to keep you informed on what is happening with in the world of the Folk Arts.
