Small Grants

 FAA Small Grant Applications for 2025 will be announced when we have reached our fundraising target

Small grants for folk-based music or arts projects
Do you have a great project that could be supported by a small grant? In 2025 FAA will offered grants of $ 2,500 each for up to 4 projects.

Aim of Small Grants scheme
•  to encourage and support a diversity of small but significant folk music / folk cultural projects
•  support small projects that raise the profile of the folk industry and community
•  offer small grants in an ‘easy to apply’ format.

Project Dates 

  • Funding is for projects that take place between TBA
  • Applications open TBA
  • Applications close at TBA
  • Funding decisions announced TBA
  • Successful applications paid in TBA
  • (* Reporting on project required by TBA)

Grant Guidelines 

  1. FAA Members:
    Applicant must be a current FAA member (Organisation or Individual) at the time of submitting their application. Your membership number must be provided.
  2. Dates:
    Funding is for small folk music/folk cultural projects commencing from TBA
  3. Projects eligibility:
    Projects can be anything related to traditional or contemporary folk-genre music/dance/cultural activity (for example performance/recording or publication/artistic development/special projects/schools/workshops/displays/travel).
    FAA encourages applications for projects that involve a wide range of folk genres, cultural backgrounds, regions, genders and ages. (nb; We are looking for small projects that could have a wider impact)
    NOTE:- We are not seeking to fund existing festivals or projects happening within existing festivals.
  4. Use of Funds:
    Funds must be used for projects not funded or supported by other funding bodies and the project should not be reliant on receiving other forms of funding in order to proceed. ( We do not wish to part-fund projects that are receiving other funding)
  5. Invoicing:
    An invoice with an ABN will be required from the applicant if successful. Funding will be paid to successful applicants by Electronic Funds Transfer.
  6. To Apply:
    Applicant must submit their application on the form provided. FAA may contact applicant to request further information if required. Please do not send excessive or large files or images.
  7. Decisions & Notification:
    Applicants will be notified of funding decision by email. Decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Applications will be assessed by the FAA Grants Committee.
  8. Acknowledgement of FAA:
    The FAA logo is to be used on any printed/promotional material and FAA support acknowledged by successful projects.
  9. Report:
    A short 1 page project report and photo/video documentation including any media coverage is to be submitted to FAA within 8 weeks of completion of project. Funds must be used for the purpose in the application by the due date or will be required to be repaid.
  10. FAA Promotion of project:
    FAA will have permission to report on projects & their outcomes (for example in FAA newsletters). FAA will be invited to project outcomes ( i.e. performances/launches )  if applicable.
