Founded in 1833 as the School of Arts for the Mechanics of Sydney, the SMSA is the oldest Mechanics Institure/School of Arts in Australia. It is a vibrant community of people making a vital contribution to the social, artistic and cultural life of Sydney. The School of Arts was the home for our 2008 FolkBiz Conference and will also be hosting our 2009 Conference. A National Conference for our Folk Industry.
