Una McAlinden has broad experience in the arts and event management.
She worked at the Geelong Performing Arts Centre for 5 years in the area of programming, with a particular emphasis on providing opportunities for young people in the arts. She is currently the Director of the National Celtic Festival, in Portarlington which has national and international recognition and attracts over 12, 000 people across the four days of the festival. She has an extensive management role, and oversees all aspects of this event. Una also has been involved in other events across the Geelong region, including the Masters Games, and the Northern Bellarine Coastal Strategy Launch.
Una has an education background and is currently engaged in teaching units within the Event Management course at the Gordon TAFE. She has also facilitated community education programs for targeted groups.
She is a musician and has played in a number of Celtic bands. She also teaches fiddle, Irish Drum and Irish dancing.
With a passion for community participation in the arts which is reflected in the broad based community support she is able to attract to the projects she facilitates.
